The Education Department provides training for employees and volunteers to support ‘Out and About’ visits. The training scheme available during the year includes local courses for: Education Visits Co-ordinator* Group Leader* - Coastal and Countryside

Orienteering Open water sea swimming Coasteering # Kayaking Indoor wall climbing Outdoor rock climbing # Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expedition Supervisors, Trainers and Assessors Off road cycling Sailing Archery * These courses are UK accredited courses with DfCSF and can be used for CPD. # these courses are currently only available to SED employees. All courses for employees and volunteers are centrally funded. Supply is also funded for teachers. Places on these courses are also offered to local youth group leaders as available and by prior agreement. The Education Department expects these youth groups to monitor and supervise their staff appropriately subsequent to any training received. All employees wishing to complete UK national outdoor education training and assessment can apply for support via their Head teacher / Manager and the Outdoor Education Officer prior to autumn half term for the following calendar year.
