 | I was elected as a people’s deputy for the Vale in April 2008. I am the youngest member of the States. I sit on the Education Department, the House Committee and the Scrutiny Committee, of which I am vice-chairman.I consider it a great privilege to sit on the Education Department. I am passionate about education and the opportunities it affords young people, who are the future of our island. I have joined Education at an exciting but challenging time. Exciting because we are in the middle of the biggest schools redevelopment programme ever undertaken in Guernsey; challenging because there remains a pressing need to commit further resources to all sectors of education. I have a particular interest in establishing universal access to nursery education and rebuilding two of our three secondary schools – Les Beaucamps and La Mare de Carteret – as urgently as possible. | | | |
