Young People's Awards
The Bailiwick of Guernsey's Young People Awards are accolades presented to young people of the islands who have demonstrated a level of commitment to their community, dedication to a worthwhile project or triumphed over negative aspects in their lives.
The awards are held annually.
The public are invited to nominate young people between the ages of 11 and 25 for any one of three awards:
Dedicated Service
for those who give their time to a project or scheme over a sustained length of time making a difference to the lives of those involved.
Outstanding Contribution to the Community
for those who are involved in island life in a variety of areas, therefore improving the quality of all our lives.
Triumph Over Adversity
for those who, despite obstacles and difficult circumstances, prevail, making a significant difference to their own lives and possibly those around them.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from this page or are available from the Youth Service and The Guernsey Press. The closing date is October 11th 2012.
Citations should be as detailed as possible as this helps with the overall picture of the young person. Submissions can be from parents, friends, school or work colleagues - indeed anyone who has been affected positively by contact with the young person.
The judging panel is made up of sponsors, young people and Education Department representatives. All those nominated are invited to the Celebration of Achievement ceremony and a shortlist of usually three in each category will be honoured on the night with a presentation of an engraved plaque from the Bailiff, Richard Collas and a cheque from the sponsors.
During the nomination period and up until and after ceremony the young people are featured in Press, and other media articles, helping to promote the good that is the youth of the Bailiwick.
