Information on the financial support available to Guernsey and Alderney students studying towards a first degree course with the Open University can be downloaded from this webpage and the attached link. The support available may change in future years. Application forms and a student declaration for courses can be obtained from the Grants Section at the Department on 710821. Students should register with the Open University (www.open.ac.uk) before making an application to the Department. Students are then required to send in to the Department copies of their Open University registration agreement (completed) and a blank sponsorship agreement (obtainable from the Open University), together with the Education Department’s application form and student declaration. Once your application has been assessed by the Education Department, you will be notified in writing of the outcome and your registration agreement and, if applicable, a sponsorship agreement will be returned to you. You should then forward all this paperwork to the Open University to finalise your registration. If you have already paid for a course, please send us a copy of your registration agreement with the Open University, together with confirmation from the Open University that you have paid your tuition fees (e.g. an original receipt), plus the Education Department’s application form and student declaration. Please note that you will need to make a fresh application each autumn for the following calendar year of your studies. The process can take approximately 1 month and applicants are advised to send in their grant application by 1 November for courses commencing the following spring and by 1 April for courses commencing in the autumn. The Education Department will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but if for any reason there is a delay in this process (perhaps because we need to ask you for supplementary information), then you are advised to keep in touch with the Open University registration service to ensure your place is held open. |
