To help better achieve the Education Department’s aims and objectives, the service is undergoing a series of reorganisations. There are three steps the Education Department is considering when looking at how the Department can best deliver these aims and objectives. Review – look at what we are currently providing Redesign – how can we improve this delivery Reprovision – how can we most effectively and efficiently staff this provision. The provision of new buildings and facilities under the Education Development Plan is key to achieving reorganisation which is designed to provide equality of educational opportunity within the Secondary, Special Needs and Post-16 Education sectors. Programme 1 of the Education Development Plan seeks to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the organisation of schools in these sectors, leading to better curriculum opportunities and better facilities for children and young people and providing appropriately for raising the school leaving age to 16 by 2008. The objectives of Programme 2 of the Education Development Plan are to rationalise, renovate and improve the educational facilities in the rest of the Education estate. EDP3 aims to achieve a sustainable system for the development, funding and accountability of Non-States Schools. Special Needs Reorganisation Secondary Reorganisation Post-16 Reorganisation |
